This is the view we woke up to yesterday morning
I am quite sad that our view has changed forever.
I was also quite sad that we were without power for 26 hours! Not ideal - but thank goodness for friends and family who provided food, showers and a warm place to spend the evening.
A rainbow appeared just as we were leaving to go to friends for supper.
Thanks to those who commented - Matt got back safe and sound yesterday - albeit a bit grubby! And tired!! (I don't think he has slept during the day since he was about 9 months old!) As you can see, he got home and crashed! :)
Now to get yet another load of washing in the machine.

Oh my goodness! That is a big tree. Which means that wind must've been incredibly strong. Thank heavens all it landed on was a field. I'm glad you're all ok - the view and inconvenience are annoying but you're all safe which is the main thing. And how worrying to have Matt travelling during the storm. I hope the rest of your week is calmer! xx
ReplyDeleteSo sad about the tree. At least you are safe and sound and Matt is home again. Glad that you have your power back again. Take care. xx
ReplyDeletethank you x
DeleteSuch a shame about the tree I'm sure it would of held many secrets of times gone by. At least you and your family are all safe & sound.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame - but I guess we'll learn to appreciate the new view.
DeleteI'm sorry, Sara. That's really a shame. I'm glad nobody was hurt but I know you'll miss that tree. I'm glad Matt is home and your lives can get back to normal. Take care and have a good day.
ReplyDeleteThanks - back to normal and washing all done!
DeleteHow sad, it's awful when this happens isn't it, however that's nature a continual cycle of destruction and regrowth. I'm glad no one was hurt....looks like your son had a great time! (Hope the washing pile is greatly reduced!) :) x
ReplyDeleteIf they leave the tree in situ, I shall be interested to see what grows - maybe some exciting fungi?
DeleteWashing completed and part of the ironing done. I've earned my glass of wine tonight! x
It's always sad to lose an old tree, although a forester once said to me that the ones the wind brings down were destined anyway to fall sooner rather than later. I do hope it won't all be tidied too neatly away, allowing assorted critters to continue to shelter in what remains of it's timber. And at least that way you'll keep a bit of your view :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a photo. Sad to lose the tree, but interesting to see what comes next :) xx
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to go over and take some close up photos and see whats happening, but whenever I have any free time it seems to rain at the moment!
