Yesterday

I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

It's been a been a busy one here, with pretty much every hour allocated.  But it has been a good one, and I am glad to be sitting down now, with my laptop, and soon some crochet.  A great way to end the week.

Saturday a crafty friend and I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show in London.  We had been a couple of years ago, and had a great time, but it was very busy.

This year we set off from home to catch a train just after 8.30am and arrived at Olympia just before the show started at 10am.  It was a gorgeous day - the sun was out and you could really feel the warmth.

We had to queue to get in to the show as the doors weren't open.  Just after 10 we were inside, expecting crowds.  Although busy there was space to walk around and see the exhibitors.  We had a wonderful day; wondering around, squishing yarn, talking to other like minded people, coffee and cake.  We hadn't intended to buy much, it was to be more of a day out than a shopping expedition, but .....

Would you like to see what I bought?

I couldn't wait to start playing and made this little bit of cord on the train on the way home.  I have all sorts of ideas of using coloured cords on my craft projects.

Some more thread to use with the lucet - and I might try crocheting with this thread too.  The Stitch Witch had a brilliant range of threads which seemed very reasonably priced.

Following the recent changes at home, I felt that I was missing a bit of bling - and found the perfect solution!  An absolute bargain in a pretty box.  :)

And this was a bargain too - half price.  I can see a nice summer top for me using the cotton.

A friend had a baby a couple of months ago and I'd like to crochet a little jacket for her daughter.  I've never crocheted baby clothes before.  I hope it's not too tricky.  This yarn is so soft, though I fear may be a bit splitty to work with.

My photo doesn't do these justice - but they are the most adorable and perfect little bunny buttons for the baby jacket.  So many wonderful buttons to choose from.

I resisted buying any of the wonderful hand dyed skeins of yarn - just a bit out of my price range!  And I didn't have a project in mind for one.  I shall have to try harder next time I go to a yarn show!

The journey home went smoothly too, so I was back home by 6pm.  A nice cuppa and then time to sit down and start to play.

Today has been mainly about rugby.  I have no idea how Matt didn't get hurt here!  He's the one in the red hat.  But thankfully he's fine.

Wishing everyone a great week, and let's hope that the sun shines.

xx

  1. Goodness, what a photo of the rugby. I'm glad he wasn't hurt. I'm glad you had a good time at the Knit show, you've bought some lovely things. I particularly like the look of the Purelife, I bet it's deliciously soft and the colours are gorgeously subtle. I'll look forward to seeing the little jacket. I hope you have a good week Sara, with lots of crafting time. CJ xx

  4. Yep I think I would be worried if my son was at the bottom of that pile too. It looks like you had a great day yesterday. We did consider doing our London trip this weekend rather than last and adding in Olympia but decided we would leave that until next time as we then decided to do the two shows and we didn;t think we would be able to fit in Olympia as well, there is of course always next year as my daughter has already got her eye on going back to London to see matilda.

    1. I spend a lot of time watching the rugby waiting to see the red hat get up from the pile of bodies! I insist he wears a distinctive hat so I can always spot him!

  7. I'm glad Matt was okay, yikes. Have fun with the lucet! My mother-in-law taught my son to use one and he really likes it. He makes endless numbers of cords.

  8. I kind of hope Angus never takes up rugby...or any contact sport for that matter - ouch! It must be hard watching from the sidelines! That soft knit cotton looks lovely. x
