A busy week

Its been a busy week here. Work leading up to the tax year end has deadlines. Matt broke up from school with a mountain of revision to tackle. The cat had been poorly resulting in more washing and trips to the vets. (Hopefully she's feeling better this morning). Trying to organise a holiday and so much "stuff" this week. But I took a deep breath as I closed the door last night and have a quiet weekend ahead of me. So I wrote a list of what I'd like to achieve. Clearly setting myself up to fail as the list is far too long!  But I'm hoping the forecast is wrong and I can get out in the garden. If not the crochet and craft list will have some things ticked off.  I have put clean the oven on my list but I'm not making any promises!  At least it's made it on to a list which is a big step forward and acknowledgement that it must be tackled. :)
Anyway I thought I'd be honest and share what happens after a busy week!

Hi

I realised that I've not posted anything for a little while.  It hasn't been a very photogenic week - just normal life. All good but not really pretty!

Yesterday Matt played rugby, and IT WAS SUNNY and WARM.  :)  Possibly the last match of the season, and it was so nice to not be frozen.  Particularly as Mothers Day was spent being ridiculously cold with an icy, biting wind, pretending that we wanted them to win, rather than lose so that we could go home!

So I will leave you with a photo of Matt from yesterday, rugby and blue sky!

Have a great week.

Sunshine & Spring

Hasn't the weather been wonderful the last couple of days?  And, I've been able to spend a few minutes enjoying it.  Would you like to see what is happening in my garden?  It seems ages since my free time and sunshine coincided!  But yesterday, I was able to grab my camera at lunchtime and notice what is changing in the garden.  I love the blue skies at this time of year, and the feeling that everything is awakening ready for the year ahead.  :)

I hope you are all having a good week.

Yesterday

I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

It's been a been a busy one here, with pretty much every hour allocated.  But it has been a good one, and I am glad to be sitting down now, with my laptop, and soon some crochet.  A great way to end the week.

Saturday a crafty friend and I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show in London.  We had been a couple of years ago, and had a great time, but it was very busy.

This year we set off from home to catch a train just after 8.30am and arrived at Olympia just before the show started at 10am.  It was a gorgeous day - the sun was out and you could really feel the warmth.

We had to queue to get in to the show as the doors weren't open.  Just after 10 we were inside, expecting crowds.  Although busy there was space to walk around and see the exhibitors.  We had a wonderful day; wondering around, squishing yarn, talking to other like minded people, coffee and cake.  We hadn't intended to buy much, it was to be more of a day out than a shopping expedition, but .....

Would you like to see what I bought?

I couldn't wait to start playing and made this little bit of cord on the train on the way home.  I have all sorts of ideas of using coloured cords on my craft projects.

Some more thread to use with the lucet - and I might try crocheting with this thread too.  The Stitch Witch had a brilliant range of threads which seemed very reasonably priced.

Following the recent changes at home, I felt that I was missing a bit of bling - and found the perfect solution!  An absolute bargain in a pretty box.  :)

And this was a bargain too - half price.  I can see a nice summer top for me using the cotton.

A friend had a baby a couple of months ago and I'd like to crochet a little jacket for her daughter.  I've never crocheted baby clothes before.  I hope it's not too tricky.  This yarn is so soft, though I fear may be a bit splitty to work with.

My photo doesn't do these justice - but they are the most adorable and perfect little bunny buttons for the baby jacket.  So many wonderful buttons to choose from.

I resisted buying any of the wonderful hand dyed skeins of yarn - just a bit out of my price range!  And I didn't have a project in mind for one.  I shall have to try harder next time I go to a yarn show!

The journey home went smoothly too, so I was back home by 6pm.  A nice cuppa and then time to sit down and start to play.

Today has been mainly about rugby.  I have no idea how Matt didn't get hurt here!  He's the one in the red hat.  But thankfully he's fine.

Wishing everyone a great week, and let's hope that the sun shines.

February Round Up

I know it's a bit late - but better late than never.  I almost failed to do a monthly photo collage before I'd really started!  Oh well, my excuse is that it has been busy round here.

Not much time for crafting this month - I shall need to sort that out in March (although I've not done too well so far!)

The sunsets have been beautiful, and there really is so much more daylight as we have gone through the month.

There has been time for lunches and suppers with friends, a visit from my sister, craft club, going to a concert, recording at Abbey Road with Rock Choir (I will do a proper post about that - I promise).  Matt has played rugby and been Go Karting.  I've been back to hospital with my annoying foot, and the garden is beginning to burst in to life.

All in all, a pretty good month, and I am looking forward to March and the arrival of Spring.  I really must take some more photos of my garden.

I have to say that by doing this collage it has made me realise how busy and how many fun things I'd managed to fit in to this month.  Maybe it's not surprising I haven't managed much crafting time!

Appreciating the Sunshine

Another busy week here - and I am not sure what I have to show for it.  Not much in the way of card making or crochet, that's for sure.  Life goes like that sometimes doesn't it.

But I have noticed (when it hasn't been raining!) how lovely the sun has been, streaming in to the house.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend and wishing you all a great week.
