Favourite cards of the year

It seems that there are lots of posts for the best cards / makes of the year.  As my computer broke mid-year I lost quite a lot of information.  (Lesson learned to take responsibility for baking things up myself!).  It then took a while to get to grips to moving from a PC to a Mac, so my card and creation photos aren't quite as organised as I hope they will be next year.  But I guess it doesn't really matter here as I shan't be entering these in any challenges.  Some cards here were made at various card classes at the Glitter Pot and one with Kay Carley.  So although I made the card,  the original idea wasn't mine.  Thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year!

Hoping it brings better health, and a little more wealth for us all, together with relaxed contentment and happiness.

Mud

Well, I was getting a little bored of "ordinary" washing anyway!
So Matt kindly went out for a run!
Normal service resumes!

Snowflake Garland

Well, I've just about finished it (although I think I might add some bells and hearts for next year) but I am quite pleased with a first attempt at doing anything like this.  Thank you Lucy at Attic 24.

Merry Christmas everyone.  My entertaining starts tomorrow - and I think it is all pretty much ready.  Maybe that's dangerous and I've forgotten something!

Rain

Rain, rain go away ..........
Suggest it doesn't come back until the garden needs watering again in Spring!

Wellies needed just to get to my car at the end of the garden.
Looking forward to seeing the sun tomorrow.

London

The Christmas holidays have started and I have spent a lovely day in London with my son and friends.
We went to the Churchill War Rooms, and even the teenage boys found it interesting.  My  photos didn't really come out in there, but it was fascinating.

Then we walked through St James' Park, to the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.
It was a bit expensive for the children to go on any rides (£6 each for just Bumper cars!) but we enjoyed the atmosphere and the lights.

A very smooth journey home on the train and time for a quick game - note the safe storage of his train ticket.
A really lovely day.
Time for bed now, and a little bit of crochet.

A Christmas Card

Walking to school this morning was like walking through the scene of a Christmas card. The light was beautiful. My phone doesn't do it justice but the light was truly amazing. Frosty cobwebs looked magical. The icy puddles shattered as we walked through them. And then there was a little flurry of sleet - you could hear it falling on the frozen ground.

Sunrise to Sunset

It has been a really beautiful day here - cold but lovely.  The sun has shone, and the frost didn't totally melt, all day long, so there were large parts of my garden glistening all day long.  I love that - it's like having Christmas decorations outside too.
The day started like this
How can you beat a walk to school like this?
My new "friends" in a field we walk through on the way to school.
Then a bit of work followed (although I did get a bit side-tracked and read a few blogs!)
I blame Lucy @ Attic24 - I got caught up in the excitement of her current project!
And then a sunset - which was beautiful too.

A cuppa and a home-made banana and nutella muffin with a friend, sitting by our Christmas tree, having a good chat.
Off to school to hear the children perform in their winter concert.  They were amazing.  My son played double bass in the Jazz group and orchestra.  A proud mummy moment.
And then home, and I made a card for a friends birthday.
And now I think it's time to go to bed and hook up a couple of snow flakes.
A busy, fun day.
Bye.

Rugby

It was Matt's last school rugby match of the term on Saturday.  A hard fought victory to end a great season.  The kit isn't quite the same as at the start of the season, but thankfully the no serious injuries and lots of smiles from the boys at the end.

After putting the collage together I did some crocheting, with some "help" from Smudge!

Can you see her holding my yarn?!

All presents are now wrapped and cards written and posted.  Time to enjoy the build up to Christmas.  :)

Mud, Mud Glorious Mud?

After the great walk to school yesterday, today was somewhat different.  Mud past our ankles, but at least it keeps us fit.  Matt has his last school rugby match of the season tomorrow.  I hope it doesn't get too cold tonight and freeze, otherwise they will miss out which will be a shame.

I thought I'd add another couple of cards I've made to give at Christmas.
Above card made with Kay Carley - her ideas, but my work.  She is so clever to design something like this.

Hope you like these cards too.

Off to go and crochet now.  :)

Frosty mornings & Christmas Cards

We were so lucky this morning to walk to school, crunching through frozen Autumn leaves and stamping through the icy puddles.  I never cease to find it fun, and neither does my son.  It's great to know that even being the great big teenager that he is that he can still have fun in wellies!

I have finally finished making all my Christmas cards, and have almost finished writing them, so I am now going to post a few here.  I have also been making cotton crochet dish-clothes as little Christmas gifts for friends.  I had lots of other crafty ideas for Christmas, but I guess most will stay just that - ideas!  Perhaps I should start in January and it might all come together for December, but maybe not!

Off to bed now to make another dish-cloth.
