A Happy Birthday

If I'm honest, I was a little apprehensive about my birthday this year.  The first one without a partner for nearly 30 years!  Goodness!!
But I needn't have worried - I have wonderful friends and family who all made the day special.
Matt was brilliant.  Such a kind and thoughtful teenager.
Lunch with friends (my sister joined us too).
And supper with my parents in the evening.
Flowers and presents given to me.

Presents sent by post by kind, lovely friends.

Chocolates and thoughtful presents delivered.

A new handbag, hair dryer and a very clever radio with bluetooth from Matt.

Special cards, and cards to make me laugh.

I needn't have worried.  It was a wonderful day.  I'm very lucky to have such great friends and family.

I hope you've all had a great weekend too.

Abbey Road

I have been waiting to share this for ages!

Back in February I was lucky enough to go with Rock Choir to record some songs at Abbey Road. (I don't think I've shared any photos - apologies if you have seen these before though!)

It was an amazing experience. A real once in a lifetime opportunity.

My friend and I only joined Rock Choir in January, and couldn't believe our luck to be able to join in.

Here is the video of the day.  I think we sounded pretty good!  :)

I can't seem to post it as part of the same post - so will add it separately!  Can you see me?

Have a great weekend.  My sister is on her way down to spend the weekend with me - it's my birthday, so we may enjoy an extra glass of wine or two!

What a beautiful day

It has felt like a Summers day today.

I walked to the post box this afternoon, and I couldn't believe how hard the ground has become over the last couple of weeks.  The last time I walked across the fields I needed wellies, and today I could have managed in flip flops!

Having been in the office for most of the day, I hadn't appreciated how lovely and warm it was, nor realised how much the scenery has changed recently.  Unfortunately, therefore I didn't have my proper camera with me,  but I couldn't resist taking some photos with my phone.  Sadly the shots of the bluebells and the trees coming in to leaf were useless!  I shall remember to take the big camera with me next time.

I had hoped to do some crochet in the garden, in the sunshine today - but it wasn't to be.  I am just about to start the Stylecraft CAL.  Is anyone else joining in?  I've mixed the colours around a bit so that I could use the newly released colours.  In all honesty I really should't be starting something new - but I could't resist.  The poncho and 2 blankets WIP will just have to wait!  So many ideas, and so few hours to play!

Growing Up

He passed!  I am proud and terrified in equal measures!

Sorry I haven't been around much.  School holidays and work have taken more time than usual.  I will be back shortly - I hope!

Easter Sunshine

Evening

I was glad the sun shone again today - and I was able to go and take a few photos following my hard work in the garden yesterday.
I really love my garden at this time of year.
I hope everyone has had a great Easter, actually I think I could do with a few more days off work - I'm enjoying the nice weather we've had the last couple of days!

The green house has been tidied.

Colour on the boundary with the field.

Busy bees.  :)  The sounds was wonderful and loud!

The tulips are ready to burst in to flower.

One of my favourite parts of my garden at this time of year.  The daffodils make me smile every time I walk from my car to the front door.  And I love that visitors often say the same when they arrive.

Cowslips - emerging in the grass.

You can see how tiny the flowers are - or how big my hands are!

Have a great week. x

Happy Easter

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and welcome to new followers.  I am always amazed when someone finds me and chooses to follow me.  Thank you.  :)

I had intended to wish everyone a Happy Easter and publish some photos of my flowers having worked in the garden all day.  However, I've overdone it and ache from top to toe!  If the sun shines, I'll hopefully grab my camera tomorrow.

So Happy Easter and photos will follow!

March

Hi there

I did make this collage up on the last day of March, but then ran out of energy to post it.

This month; the garden has started to come to life (despite the wind and rain which has made a regular appearance); Matt has played lots of rugby - both sevens and fifteens; there have been some stunning sunsets; and time for crafting too.

Wishing everyone a great Easter break.

The forecast here isn't great, so I have plans to sort some cupboards.  I wonder how far I will get?  We also have friends visiting, and an invite for lunch with Matt's godparents on Monday, and I am out with my Mum tomorrow evening to see Lord of the Dance.  A busy few days ahead, and I am glad the office door will remain shut.  I am looking forward to a few days off.  I'm hoping there will be time for some crafting too.
