Sunshine

Beautiful early morning sunshine!  Autumn is just around the corner.

Back to school tomorrow, so an early night is in order.

This weekend

Whilst it rained on Saturday - I spent the day at The Glitter Pot at a colouring class.  Perfect!  :)

I will post pictures of the cards when I have completed them - I was so keen to get the colouring completed, that I didn't finish assembling the cards on the day.

Sunday was the cricket final.  An early start - we had to leave the house at 8.30am - with cricket kit and picnic.  We even made it out the door on time!  No mean feat with a teenager and my husband has never got past the sleeping in phase!  Good job I don't mind getting up isn't it.

The boys won - and I think this photo of my son says it all.  And I am a very proud mum.  A really great way to end Cricket week and the last match of this season, as he is back to school on Thursday and rugby starts on Saturday.

Today was spent catching up - it never ceases to amaze me how much washing 3 people can create.  I'm sure it is only a couple of days since I had the washing machine on.  Oh well - all clear again now - for 5 minutes anyway  The grass has been cut, and flowers dead headed.  I took the hanging baskets down as they are finished.  It feels as if the garden is getting ready for Autumn.  I know Summer has been lovely, but it was so late starting, that I am really not quite ready for Autumn yet.  Although I do love the cooler mornings and evenings.  And the morning sunlight at this time of the year is stunning.

Tomorrow - I really must make sure all name labels are on Matt's uniform.  A job I have been putting off for most of the Summer.  I also ordered him a new sweatshirt, and then have totally forgotten to go and collect it.  He has just reminded me.  Whoops!!

Hope you had a good Bank Holiday too.

Sunshine

A perfect afternoon, sitting with friends watching my son play cricket in  gorgeous warm sunshine.

(It helped that he batted well today - so a pretty good evening too! )

Two matches down, another two to go.  Hoping the next two days are as good.

Photography

Feeling a little more confident with my new camera, I thought I'd take some photos of the birds feeding in the garden.

They are a lot cleverer than I gave them credit for!  Food put out, and there I sat for 40 minutes (with a cup of tea) TWICE and not a single bird landed!!  I wouldn't mind, but my garden is always so busy, but not today when I wanted them there.

But I did take a couple of photos I liked whilst I was sitting waiting and waiting ......, so thought I'd keep them and share them here.

Food cleared within 2 minutes of me leaving my doorstep.  I think they were watching me.

There's always tomorrow.

Have a good weekend.

Make do and mend

I don't like buying summer things at this time if year - unless it's an absolute bargain. I've bought bits before, Autumn arrives and it gets tucked away and neglected. Plus the fact a new pair of these is expensive!

I have a pair (well several if I'm honest!)  of wonderful fit flops. They are a couple of years old and the flowers were looking past their best. The glue had discoloured and was very visible. But there is nothing wrong with the main part of the shoe.

So, I popped in to town to see what I could find. Came back and got to work.

I sliced the old flowers off.
No going back now!
And cut some new ones from the "leather" material I'd bought earlier.
(I used a cuttlebug with a sizxix die to cut the flowers). Stuck them together and added a pearl.

I'm quite pleased with the result.
Theses might even last through next Summer! :)

Today

I worked this morning - but not too hard!

And have spent this afternoon with a friend whilst our sons played cricket in the nets.  We sat in the sun, ate cake and drank tea.  A great way to start the weekend.

I thought I'd share the attached photo of a bird sitting in a tree as the sun went down.  I think it is an owl from the shape.  I'm quite pleased with the photo - a bit lucky I think!!
